UKAD Clean Sport Week 2026: Building a Fairer Future for Sport

From 11–17 May 2026, the UK sporting community marks Clean Sport Week 2026, led by the national anti-doping organisation UK Anti-Doping (UKAD). The campaign promotes a powerful message of integrity, fairness, and long-term athlete development under this year’s theme:

“Built not bought. 100% me.”

Clean Sport Week is designed to educate athletes, coaches, academies, and support teams about the risks of doping, contaminated supplements, and misleading performance-enhancing claims that continue to circulate across sport and fitness environments.

At its core, the campaign reinforces a simple principle: success in sport should come from training, discipline, recovery, and nutrition — not shortcuts.

The growing importance of clean sport in modern athletics

Elite and grassroots sport today is more competitive than ever. With this rise in performance pressure, athletes are increasingly exposed to:

  • Online marketing of banned substances (including SARMs and IPEDs)
  • Unsafe or contaminated supplements
  • Misleading “quick gain” performance products
  • Social media-driven fitness misinformation

Under World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) rules, athletes are held to strict liability — meaning they are responsible for anything found in their body, even if it comes from a contaminated supplement.

This makes education and trusted nutrition sourcing essential for protecting careers and reputations.

Supplement safety and athlete responsibility

While many supplements can support performance when used correctly, risks include:

  • undeclared banned substances
  • cross-contamination during manufacturing
  • misleading ingredient labelling
  • unregulated imports or online products

Common safe-use principles promoted in clean sport education include:

  • prioritising food-first nutrition
  • using evidence-based supplements only when needed
  • choosing batch-tested or certified products
  • avoiding “miracle” performance claims

Clean Sport Week continues to highlight that even a single poor supplement decision can have serious consequences under anti-doping regulations.

FitCart.com and Smart Nutrition India supporting clean sport since 2005

Their focus has included:

  • guiding athletes toward informed supplement choices
  • supporting academies and sports programs with structured nutrition strategies
  • encouraging awareness of banned substance risks
  • aligning with global clean sport principles in elite performance environments

As the sports nutrition industry continues to grow, the emphasis on transparency, quality sourcing, and athlete education remains central to long-term performance and safety.

Conclusion: performance built the right way

Clean Sport Week 2026 reinforces a message that resonates across all levels of sport: true performance is built, not bought. By combining training, recovery, nutrition, and informed decision-making, athletes can protect both their careers and the integrity of sport itself.
